Linda Edna Cardellini was born on June 25, 1975 to Lorraine Hernan and Wayne David Cardellini in Redwood City (California), the youngest of four siblings. Growing up in San Francisco, she made her public performance debut in the musical The Music Man at the age of ten. While in school, Linda performed in several productions and took drama lessons. In 1993, she graduated from St. Francis Catholic High School in Mountain View, California and in 1994, she was a contestant on The Price is Right and won a fireplace.


Bone Chillers

Linda attended and graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a degree in theatre arts in 1997.

Her professional acting career began with a recurring role on the television series Bone Chillers as Sarah in 1996. The next year, she appeared in an episode of the popular sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun as Lorna, a couple episodes of “Pacific Palisades” as Sara, on “Clueless” as Oddrey, and on “Step By Step” as Cassie Evans. Linda also had her first taste on a film set opposite Keenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell in Good Burger as Heather.

1998 brought us Linda in the films Dead Man on Campus as Kelly and Strangeland as Genevieve Gage; she would also appear in an episode of Promised Land as Amber and reunited with her Good Burger co-stars on Keenan & Kel as Becky; she took on a recurring role on the television show Guys Like Us as Jude. In 1999, she portrayed Leslie Dugger in Dying to Live, a television movie about a guardian angel escorting a teen and casts an attack on a rival teen who caused her death.


Dead Man on Campus

We also see Linda in Season 5 of Boy Meets World as Lauren, a girl working at a ski resort that causes distress in Cory and Topanga’s relationship. She had a small recurring role on “The Lot” as June Parker and played Melissa in the film The Prince and the Surfer before her breakout role of Lindsay Weir on the television show “Freaks and Geeks”, which turned out to have a cult following years after it aired. In her personal life, she and “Freaks and Geeks” co-star Jason Segel began dating after the show was cancelled and ended up dating for five years.


Scooby Doo

In 2001, Linda played Chutney Windham in Legally Blonde, opposite Reese Witherspoon, in one episode of The Twilight Zone and in The Unsaid, alongside Andy Garcia. 2002 gave the world Linda as everyone’s favorite meddling kid Velma in the live-action film Scooby-Doo and in 2003 she voiced a video game for the first time Gladius. Linda would appear in the short film Certainly Not A Fairytale as Adelle/Writer and then reprised her role as Velma in both Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed and for the video game as well. Beginning in 2003, she had a recurring role on the television drama ER and would continue for the next six years.

In 2004, she appeared in Jiminy Glick in Lalawood as Natalie Coolidge, a film about a critic getting caught in a murder case at the Toronto Film Festival. She also played Linda in LoliLove, starring James Gun, Jenna Fischer and Jason Segel and was a part, the following year, of the award-winning film Brokeback Mountain as Cassie, starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal.


Grandma’s Boy

She once again voiced Velma, Jem and other characters on the series Robot Chicken; moving then to the film American Gun as Mary Ann Wilk and Grandma’s Boy as Samantha, a film about a 35-year-old game tester that moves in with his grandmother. In 2007, she appeared in an episode of Human Giant as Melody Richards and as Clara Forsythe on the mini-series Comanche Moon in 2008. Linda was a part of the film The Lazarus Project as Julie Ingram, opposite Paul Walker and Piper Perabo.

In 2009, she had an uncredited role on the show Cupid as a masseuse. Linda also lent her voice for the series The Goode Family as Bliss Goode and Shelly. In 2010, she was in the film Super as the Pet Store Employee, as well as in the short film Gleeclipse as Coach. Linda was in the film Return as Kelli and Kill the Irishman as Joan Madigan in 2011; in October of that same year, she and her boyfriend Steve announced the pregnancy of their first child, Lilah-Rose, born on February 29, 2012.
Before her pregnancy announcement, she portrayed the role of Dr. Megan Tillman in an episode of Person of Interest and voiced two other video games: All-Star Superman as Nasthalthia and Lolipop Chainsaw as Cordelia, as well as taking part in the shows Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated as Marcy Fleach, Dark Lilith, and the Airport PA and on the Out There as Sharla. She also had a recurring role on the AMC television series Mad Men as Sylvia Rosen, Dan Draper’s love interest.

While her career continued, Linda did several voice-over works like Regular Show, in which she voiced C.J., Mrs. Chamberlain, Girl 2 and Automated Voice System, Gravity Falls as Wendy Corduroy, Megan Sparkles, Hector’s Mom, Madam Slash on Sanjay and Craig; but she would also continue her career on the screen appearing on the popular television show New Girl as Abby Day, the protagonist’s sister, and in the film Welcome to Me, opposite Kristen Wiig and Wes Bentley, as Gina Selway.


Daddy’s Home 2

On June 2013, Linda got engaged to Steve, her long time partner and father to her daughter.

Then in 2015 she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing Laura Barton, the wife of agent Barton (Jeremy Renner) in Avengers: Age of Ultron; a role she will reprise four years later in Avengers: Endgame. She also played opposite Will Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg in Daddy’s Home as Sara and gained a recurring role on the television show Bloodline as Meg Rayburn.


The Curse of la Llorona

Between 2016 and 2017, Linda kept busy portraying Joan Smith in The Founder, Leanne Wilson in Austin Found, opposite Skeet Ulrich and Craig Robinson, and again Sara in Daddy’s Home 2, the sequel to the first movie from 2015. In 2018, she appeared in the films Hunter Killer as Jayne Norquist, A Simple Favor as Diana Hyland and in Green Book, the award-winning film, as Dolores.

In 2019, Linda portrayed the role of Anna in the film The Curse of La Llorona, based on the Hispanic folklore, and landed on a co-protagonist role for the Netflix series “Dead to Me”, opposite Christina Applegate; the show was renewed for a third and last season in July 2020. Linda’s latest project is the role of Mae Capone, the wife of the infamous gangster, in the film Capone, also starring Tom Hardy.

Outside of acting, Linda loves art, especially Margaret Keane and enjoys taking martial arts classes and spending time with her family. She currently lives in Woodside (CA) with her fiancé, Steve Rodriguez, and their daughter, Lilah-Rose.
